every year, i look forward to this day. April Fools day. Without fail, i play pranks on my friends and tell the wildest stories in the world, with a pretty high hit rate I'm proud to say. This year was the same. with one exception.
So i was in Heather and Esther's room talking to them, and i decided to play a prank on mimi, one of my closest friends here in Rice. so i called her up :
(throughout the whole conversation, i put on my best hesitant sighing sad voice. i was so surprised i could sound like that)
me: "mimi, are you free tomorrow evening for a gathering?"
mimi: "erm sure, what time?"
me: "around 7... it's actually because something serious happened back home. I'm flying back home on monday. I have to drop out of school."
(it sounds unbelievable here, but it's actually really believable if u're caught unaware that it's april 1st)
mimi: "of course i'll go... are you alright?"
ok i shortened it a little but that's the gist of the conversation. so i handed the phone to heather and she was like "Happy April Fools Day Mimi!"
mimi:"i'm never talking to you ever again." and then she slams the phone
we immediately called her back.
mimi:"didn't you hear what i said?"
i sat in a stunned silence for about 2 minutes, then decided to do some damage control. went back to my room, wrote a long letter apologizing for my immaturity and then went up to Heather's room again. There, I saw Mimi walking into Alex's room. So after showing Heather my letter, I went to Alex's room and gave it to a laughing Mimi. It was my April Fools Joke, backfired.
That's all summarized of course. she actually planned to have me make a wild goose chase by telling different people she was at different places so i'd have to search for her. but too bad i caught her walking into Alex's room. haha.
So today was really eventful. Beer bike in the morning, water balloon fight for over an hour. tonnes of fun. Went to chinatown with crystal, huong and crystal's friend joyce. Played cards and shopped abit, came back, cooked dinner and then played some pranks.. etc. fun-filled day!
1st place newcomer samba, 2nd place newcomer cha-cha, 3rd place newcomer rhumba. This weekend I went down to Austin with Mimi for the UTBC dance competition. Some of the dancers really made my jaw drop all the way to the floor. We didn't dance as well as we normally do, but it was still a wonderful experience all the same. It was worth it even though this week's gonna be uber busy. And the weird thing is I didn't get those pangs of nervousness I usually get before performances. Speaking of which, this semester's orchestra performance was also different. maybe i'm getting used to stage performances... or not.
